Glen records in his own in-house studio, equipped with acoustical dampening to get you the cleanest sound possible. While the audio booth is currently in a somewhat “makeshift” state, it’s sufficient to all but eliminate outside noise, cut down substantially on any reverb, and result in clear audio. Plans are currently to build a more permanent booth structure by the end of 2022.

Equipment used includes Samson Technologies professional microphones, which Glen has found to provide excellent sound without breaking the bank. Headphones vary, though Glen is pretty attached to his older Sound Intone CX-05 closed-back, on-ear, budget pair (sadly, no longer in business). Glen also has a microphone boom arm and shockmount to eliminate any movement sounds, as well as a pair of pop filters in front of the mic to help reduce any breath-related noises. There’s also a small monitor mounted in the booth to follow along with any scripts.

The software that Glen uses varies by project, ranging from the simple (GoldWave, Audacity, etc.) to the more complex (Sound Forge Audio Studio, Movie Studio Platinum, etc.). This provides the ability to make a quick and simple voice recording or to blend and edit multiple tracks (including video), depending on what the specific project calls for. And Glen is never hesitant to learn new software when the job calls for it! While Glen can handle any file format you’re likely to require, files are provided in WAV format at 44.1 kHz unless otherwise requested.
